There are numerous excuses for procrastinating, delaying, avoiding or just plain not doing. You don’t have time to figure out what to do with that old 401(k) or investment account. You’ve always wanted to set up a retirement plan for yourself and your employees. One day you’ll contribute to a Roth IRA. You’ll get around to calling that advisor to help plan your retirement. I know how hard it is to fit everything into a day. I run into the same problem sometimes. It just seems there’s never enough time in the day.
Well today that excuse simply doesn’t fly. You’ll have more hours of get-going daylight today than any other day this year. That’s right, today will mark the longest day of 2017. It’s anticipated that daylight will last approximately 14 hours and 27 minutes. You’ve got from sunrise at 6:18 am until sunset 8:46 pm to get on with it!
While I’m joking about getting everything done today, it is important to get the ball rolling on many tasks when they involve your financial well-being. These are things that are often pushed aside for months or even years. Neglecting your investments, savings, or failing to plan does you a great disservice and can severely hinder your ability to reach your goals. I hope you’ll mark today as not only the longest day of the year, but also the day crossed the most off your to-do-list. Happy Summer Solstice from Vassey Financial Planning and Investments!
